Here are the latest updates and reviews of the top encounters that took place in the Italian Serie A over the weekend-

AC Milan (4) vs Catania (0)-

AC Milan ran out utterly comfortable 4-0 winners against Catania at home to go third in Serie A league table. Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a 7th minute penalty. Robinho was completely unmarked as he broke into the area from an Ibrahimovic through ball and as he went to shoot, Davide Lanzafame came in from behind and fouled him, leaving the referee with an easy decision to make. Robinho doubled their lead midway through the half with an excellent effort.

Clarence Seedorf and Gianluca Zambrotta grabbed a goal apiece in the second half. Pippo Inzaghi came on with 10 minutes to go and almost grabbed one for himself late on. The pass of the match from Ibrahimovic cut open the entire Catania defence and the veteran striker saw his effort clip off the heels of Andujar and bounce just wide of the far post. The result was Catania’s first loss in seven games and moves them down to eighth position.

AS Roma (2) vs Novarra (0)-

AS Roma scored twice in four minutes to win 2-0 at Novara in Serie A on Saturday. The visitors enjoyed much of the early possession, but it was Novara who almost scored in the 17th minute as Francesco Marianini raced through the Roma back four to meet Marco Rigoni’s pinpoint free kick and head past Maarten Stekelenburg, but he was denied by a late offside flag. Heavy rain didn’t allow proper free flow football  but  substitute Bojan Krkic provided a clinical touch in the 73rd minute to break the deadlock.

Miralem Pjanic provided a measured  through ball beyond the Novara defence, and Bojan raced into the box to latch on to it and superbly finish past Fontana to give Milan the lead. Three minutes later Pablo Osvaldo doubled the lead and gave Roma a crucial three points which lifted them into 7th position in the Serie A standings.
