While Real Madrid celebrate there incredible achievement of winning three Champions League final in a row, their opponent Liverpool is left wondering with multiple “what if scenario” like, what if Sergio Ramos hadn’t brought down mohamed salah, what if Loris Karius didn’t make those mistakes and what if Sadio Mane’s strike that hit the post had gone in?

Well, one could say that these unanswered “what if scenarios” will probably live on as long as the quotes below from Saturday’s final.

Zinédine Zidane:

“Our achievement tonight is the most important thing – we have to congratulate the players because it’s not at all easy to do this. There are no words to describe this. The amazing thing about this squad is that they don’t have a ceiling. They are hungry for more and they’ve demonstrated that today.” [SOURCE]

Jürgen Klopp:

“Congratulations to Real Madrid. [Salah’s departure] was a big moment in the game. It was unlucky that he fell on his shoulder and it’s a serious injury. We’ll never know what would have happened if he’d played on. The shock was obvious and we dropped too deep. [Bale] was very decisive – the bicycle kick was an unbelievable goal.” [SOURCE]

Sergio Ramos:

Liverpool’s UCL top scorers:

Gareth Bale:

“To score a goal like that on the biggest stage in world football is a dream come true. I’ve never actually scored a bicycle kick – I’ve had many attempts! – and it’s been something I’ve always wanted to do. I remember Marcelo clipping the ball and it was just at the right height – it was great to get the right connection and see it hit the back of the net.” [SOURCE]

Gareth Bale on his future:

“Obviously, I need to be playing. I need to be playing week in, week out. That hasn’t happened this season for one reason or another,” he said in frustration.

“I had a five, six week injury at the start of the season but I’ve been fit ever since. Obviously, I’ll have to sit down with my agent and discuss it, and we’ll take it from there.”

“I was disappointed not to start, I felt I deserved it…but you have to keep working until the end.” [SOURCE]

Loris Karius:

Neville Southall:

Cristiano Ronaldo on his future:

“Now it’s time to enjoy this. In the next few days I’ll give the fans, who have been by my side, an answer. It’s been great being at Real Madrid.

“I’ll speak in the next few days. Now it’s time to enjoy the moment. The future of any player isn’t important. We’ve made history.” [SOURCE]

Cristiano Ronaldo on his accolades:

“I have won five Champions Leagues and five Ballons d’Or. I had already made history, but now even more.

“I’m not upset because I know what I give to the club. I don’t want to erase this unique moment, with my colleagues who are champions.

“I cannot guarantee anything. I’m not going to hide, in the next few days I’ll talk… Life is not just about glory.” [SOURCE]
