Mexico defeated USA 3-0 in International friendly
The USMNT lost yet another game to arch-rival Mexico after losing the Concacaf Gold Cup final 1-0 on home soil in Chicago, Illinois. Gregg Berhalter team was without a number of players from their Gold Cup roster while Mexico had all squad members from their 2019 Gold Cup triumph.
Javier Hernandez opens the scoring with a diving header just inside 20 minutes of play within the first half. The Sevilla FC forward latched onto a beautifully weighted cross from teammate Jesus Corona who nutmegged young Sergino Dest to orchestrate the goal. Erick Gutierrez and Uriel Antuna scored in the second half to secure a 3-0 win for Mexico.

Coach Berhalter Men’s performance was dismal, to say the least, and Christian Pulisic who provided the brightest moments of the game for the USA sums up how disappointed he was following the loss.
“We have to go out and play like we’re good enough to be out there. Be confident and play without thinking twice about it and that’s how it needs to be and that’s just not where we’re at right now.”
Clearly this performance didn’t sit well with the Chelsea attacker and it’s good for the USMNT, supporters, and everyone who’s involved and committed to the team’s success to acknowledge when things went wrong as it did yesterday.
Acknowledging is one thing, but picking up the pieces and moving forward is another. We now look forward to seeing whether or not the United States can tip the scale in their favor against Mexico to reignite a rivalry that has become rather one-sided of late.
